During the construction of a supermarket in Dublin, Ireland, archaeologists discovered the remains of a 1000 year old medieval house. Rather than excavate the items and build on top of the site, the store installed glass flooring that provides shoppers with a literal window into history.

The Whiskey Bottle Tombstone. In 1863 William Mullen died at the young age of 29. His wife kept a promise she’d made often during life. She told her husband that if he drank himself to death, she would embarrass him by erecting a tombstone in the shape of a whiskey bottle. He did and she did.

Grover Krantz (1931-2002), was a teacher who donated his body to science. He did it on the one condition, that his beloved dogs were kept with him. A teacher in life and now a teacher in death. His exhibit is at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.

The Woman with the Handbag is a photograph taken in Växjö, Sweden on 13 April 1985. It depicts a 38-year-old woman, Danuta Danielsson, hitting a marching neo-Nazi with a handbag. A statue now resides in the garden of Lasse Diding's Villa Wäring in Varberg.
