In 1914 during WWI, 100,000 British and German troops called a ceasefire; soldiers decorated their trenches and No- Man’s-Land, sang Christmas carols, and exchanged gifts, food, tobacco, alcohol and souvenirs in what became known as The Christmas Truce.
